This is George Bush’s accountability moment. That’s why I’m here. The mainstream media aren’t holding him accountable. Neither is Congress. So I’m not leaving Crawford until he’s held accountable. - Cindy Sheehan

Civil liberties don't appear to mean much to Republicans, period

Sen. Jim Bunning, R-Ky., countered that the war on terrorism couldn't wait for more debate.

"Civil liberties do not mean much when you are dead," Bunning told the Senate.

Homo Simpleton

From Eschaton

In Bremer's account, the President was seriously interested in one issue: whether the leaders of the government that followed the CPA would publicly thank the United States...."It's important to have someone who's willing to stand up and thank the American people for their sacrifice in liberating Iraq."

Bush was obsessed with crowds cheering ang throwing flowers at Margaret Thatcher's feet as British ships returned from the Falklands. His biographer (at least until his handler's fired him for being too frank and gave his notes to Karen Hughes to finish the book) said,

"Bush's circle of pre-election advisers had a fixation on the political capital that British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher collected from the Falklands War. Said Herskowitz: "They were just absolutely blown away, just enthralled by the scenes of the troops coming back, of the boats, people throwing flowers at [Thatcher] and her getting these standing ovations in Parliament and making these magnificent speeches."

The entire interview can be found at Common Dreams

Particularly chilling was the advice of Cheney: "Start a small war. Pick a country where there is justification you can jump on, go ahead and invade."

Why haven't we impeached these two incompetent monsters?

Maybe this is what it will take to get us out of the hellhole formerly known as Iraq

From Juan Cole

"Young Shiite nationalist leader Muqtada al-Sadr, having arrived at Basra on Sunday from Iran, called for a joint peaceful demonstration involving both Shiites and Sunnis that demands the departure of US, British and other foreign troops from Iraq and calls for concord between Sunnis and Shiites."

Sleep well. Trust him.

This is how I want this guy remembered

Whenever anyone gets ready to cast his/her vote, I want him/her to associate the GOP with Dubyai, the man who sold out his country for a ports deal. And to remember the quisling Republicans who let him get away with it. Then I want them to think about having him at the wheel when the bird flu shit really hits the fan.

Taking one for the president

Treasury secretary may be fall guy in port flap

Why should the president take responsibility?

The liar finally tells the truth

"This deal wouldn't go forward if we were concerned about the security for the United States of America"

Of course it wouldn't. You aren't concerned with our security, only your bidness deals and cronyism. Bastard. We are going to impeach your sorry, lying ass.

Thursday, February 23, 2006

Hahahaha. Not funny.

"Warner then jumped in to assure Levin that he would ask Attorney General Alberto Gonzales to prepare a memorandum on the administration's interpretation of the law."

And the survey says............."Go fuck yourselves"

Psssst......wanna buy a port?

Port security has nothing to do with it. Bush, or more likely Cheney, appointed Snow and Sanborn, then tried to sneak this deal under the radar without conducting the 45 day review which is required by law. Quid Pro Quo.

"What's clear is that neither the task of building democratic nations around the world nor ensuring secure ports and cities here at home is our primary national purpose. Our mission is to maximize shareholder value. Which, by the measure of our strategic interests and our historical ideals, amounts to selling America short."

If epitaphs were polygraphs,
This, terse and edifying,
Would crown the veep in final sleep:
Here lies Big Time--still lying.

An accident it must have been,
And not a planned attack
Because Dick shot him in the face
Instead of in the back.

Crazy People Underestimation

We underestimated the crazies, and now it is time to get the hell out of Iraq sez Bill O'Reilly in a media clip at Media Matters .

What a needless, horrible tragedy. Bush and Cheney have so much to answer for...........I just pray to the gods that they will be held accountable in this life.

"Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA), Ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, alleged in a statement today that the White House recently cancelled scheduled briefings to the full Intelligence Committee on the details of President Bush's warrantless wiretap program."

The bastards blocked a vote to begin an investigation by vowing to give a more complete briefing, and now, of course, they back out of the agreement.

We can bomb the world to pieces....

...but we can't bomb it into peace. It is important to remember that right now, as the Bush regime prepares to nuke Iran.

..."In late November, Hackett got a call from Sen. Harry Reid. “I hear there’s a photo of you mistreating bodies in Iraq. Is it true?” demanded the Senate minority leader. “No sir,” replied Hackett. To drive home his point, Hackett traveled to Washington to show Reid’s staff the photo in question. Hackett declined to send me the photo, but he insists that it shows another Marine—not Hackett—unloading a sealed body bag from a truck. “There was nothing disrespectful or unprofessional,” he insists. “That was a photo of a Marine doing his job. If you don’t like what they’re doing, don’t send Marines into war.”...

from Shakespeare's Sister

I wish he would reconsider and get back into the race. We need this kind of guy.

Phone calls in order

from Steve Soto at The Left Coaster

"Roberts Came Very Close To Losing Snowe And Hagel.

In recent days, I have accused Chuck Hagel and Olympia Snowe for caving in to White House pressure by backing away from their earlier concerns over the illegal NSA spying program. It appears that there was more going on behind the scenes than just a simple cave-in. Tomorrow’s Post reports that after Andy Card tried to pressure Snowe against supporting an independent inquiry and a resolution calling for one by Jay Rockefeller, she and Hagel told Pat Roberts that if he tried to push through a vote to kill Rockefeller’s resolution, they would break ranks and support the inquiry. The news came as such a surprise to Roberts that he signaled his support for Arlen Specter’s proposal to refer the administration’s programs to the FISA court for a ruling as to their legality, and called off any further committee action until at least March 7th, by which time it is assumed that negotiations will have been concluded with the White House on greater oversight and the referral to the FISA court.

In effect, Roberts was forced to push through a cooling off period and recess, rather than push for an immediate vote that he and the White House would have lost, thanks to Andy Card’s arrogance."

Snowe, Hagel and Rockefeller need to hear that we support them in this. Pat Roberts deserves to go hunting with Cheney. We need to call him and let him know how cowardly and reprehensible we find his actions.
